If you mean that you recently updated to Yahoo Messenger 9.0 and are having problems signing in, most likely you did not do a complete uninstall of the older version first. Before you do this though test your password by logging into this Yahoo Mail link: http://mail.yahoo.com/ . Make sure your caps lock key is not activated. If it works in mail but not Yahoo Messenger then go ahead and do a complete uninstall. If you cannot sign into your mail either then something is wrong with your password and you will want to try to reset it.
COMPLETE UNINSTALL OF YAHOO MESSENGER
1. PLEASE NOTE that doing a clean uninstall of Yahoo Messenger will erase your message archives so read here about how to copy them http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger8/messenger/mstacopyarchive.html
Important: Do not put the archives back in until you are sure you can connect with the new download and installation and when you are sure Yahoo Messenger is working properly.
2. First uninstall Yahoo! Messenger through add/remove programs in the Control Panel. Vista users please read this for how to uninstall Yahoo Messenger, skip the part for now about reinstalling, I will go over that below.
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/messenger/mstawreinstallvista.html;_ylt=AihrflFQxjzZeBTCSuhkKKWQLCV4
3. If you want to do a total clean uninstall of Yahoo Messenger then also navigate to Program Files on your hard drive and delete the Messenger folder inside of the Yahoo Folder. Follow this path (XP): My Computer>>C: drive>>Program Files>>Yahoo>>Messenger. I am not sure of the path for Vista.
4. Reboot your computer (important!).
5. If you have a trusted registry scanner use it now. If you do not have a trusted registry scanner that you are familiar with than SKIP this step because you can screw your computer up if you do not know what you are doing. I personally use CCleaner but then I have been using it for years and know how to use the Registry scanner portion safely. Using any of these types of programs is USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Make sure you know how to create a system restore point and use the built in backup feature to backup any of the Registry files it changes. Computer novices should definitely skip this step. Reboot again if you choose to do this step.
6. Now download and install Yahoo messenger again using the following link:
Full Installer for Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.2162

Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 runs on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, (maybe Windows 7 too).

TIPS FOR DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLATION FOR VISTA USERS
7. Those on Windows Vista should right click the full installer (see link above) and choose “Install as Administrator”.
8. Vista users if still unable to install it, after you download the installer, you might have to temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.
